Highlight on MANA! Cafe & Yoga Bam Bam

I had the pleasure of attending a community event hosted by MANA! Café, partnered with Yoga Bam Bam. The event was held at MANA!’s new café, conveniently located right next to Yoga Bam Bam in the laidback Poho neighborhood of Sheung Wan. The unification of these two businesses makes for the complete sanctuary to find calmness away from Hong Kong’s madness.

The event provided the opportunity to sample MANA!’s new café menu in addition to delve into some of the classes offered by Yoga Bam Bam. Feeling the need to sweat, I welcomed the challenging Fast Flow. Accompanied by the falling rain and a live band, the class got in the flow inside the intimate and quaint studio of Yoga Bam Bam. The class was the perfect combination of Vinyasa sequences and playful inversions, leaving me both relaxed and energized. This class gave the perfect insight into what the studio has to offer, leaving me wanting more.

Yoga Bam Bam is a refreshing yoga center compared to the overbearing, manufactured studios around the city. The studio promotes community, supporting local artists, and has a relaxed come as you wish mentality. With a variety of classes throughout the day, the studio has a large range of styles and levels including Hatha Yoga and AcroYoga. Check out their current schedule here.

I look forward to unrolling my mat again there in the near future.

The class brought inner peace as well as extreme inner hunger. Fortunately, a delicious café was 2 steps way. I have visited the MANA! Fast Slow Food in Central, thoroughly enjoying the clean food options there. I liked MANA! from the start not only for it’s vegan and wholesome food options but for it’s philosophy. The restaurant supports sustainable living through eco friendly packaging, upcycling, and using organic and local food to name a few. I dig that. Furthermore, the food served caters to all diets and made completely with tender loving care. Known for their flats, the menu has a multitude of fresh combinations as well as build your own. Holla at the falafel, it’s life changing!

However, this MANA! was different compared to the one I’ve dined in previously. A good different. The café is a cozy open-air eatery promoting the “books, brunch, and coffee” vibe. The menu is slightly different with more of a breakfast selection but still carrying over the flatbread, but with a twist. For my lunch, I went with the “Yono”, an open-faced buckwheat flatbread layered with pesto, tomato, mozzarella, pine nuts, and raw kale. I paired my meal with an affogato, a coffee based dessert, with vegan (YAY, a rarity in HK) chocolate ice cream. I was not disappointed, to say the least. With a happy belly, I rounded out my experience by indulging in a good book under the canopy to the sounds of the afternoon rain. This just might be my new weekend hide away.

If you’re ever in Sheung Wan..pop over!
