A Retreat: Oasis Yoga in Koh Lanta

Coming to Koh Lanta, Thailand, I had the full intention to unwind by the beach and regain balance with a few days of yoga. With ocean views and a laid back vibe; Oasis Yoga helped me do that.

Located on Klong Dao Beach, Oasis Yoga is a cozy studio ran by two health enthusiast and down to earth people, Farra and Kate. The minute you walk into the studio, you feel instantly at home. They’ve created a yogi haven complete with a health bar and garden area to unwind after a class. Lounging in the garden sipping a refreshing Green Guru was just what I needed after an intense Flow class.

The health bar offers made to order juices, smoothies, hummus, and various homemade treats. For an optimal holistic health experience, there is the option to do a detox juice cleanse combined with yoga classes. The fresh fruit and veggie blends will leave you feeling hydrated and energized, boosting your immune system and metabolism.

The studio offers numerous daily classes that cater to every yogi’s practice or level. During my stay I created my own personal 3-day retreat that included Flow, a multi-level Vinyasa flow class, and a Sunset Yin class that involved slow and deep stretching. Both classes were held on the upper deck, over looking the ocean. The classes are intimate and open to the natural elements, allowing individuals to become fully present in the moment, embracing the energy. Furthermore, the instructors are passionate about yoga and extremely supportive, guiding the class to deepen their own practice.

Both classes helped me regain focus and balance, helping me to connect with myself. My most memorable moment from my mini retreat was during the Sunset Flow class. With hours to go until the New Year, I laid still on my yoga mat during Savanyasa. I could hear the waves crashing in the distance and the sun was setting on the horizon when I was completely overcome with emotion. Tears ran down my face as I let go of everything weighing me down from the year and replaced those feelings with happiness and contentment. I felt clarity and completely alive in this present moment…

These are the yoga experiences I love the most. Where an environment can make you feel.

With the combination of sea, sun, and a serene atmosphere, Oasis Yoga offers the opportunity to heal and strengthen your mind, body, and soul. I had such a positive experience at Oasis Yoga and fortunate that I could spend a few days in such a relaxing space. If you find yourself in the Krabi area and looking for a beachside sanctuary to practice yoga, make your way over to Oasis Yoga. Your heart and body will be grateful.
